The effective date is the actual date that the employee's coverage starts (becomes "effective"). BenSelect uses the Eligibility Date (usually Date of Hire), the Waiting Period, the Grace Period, and Grace Period Start to calculate the effective date. Effective dates can be different based on benefit plan setup.
